Academic Seminar on “Missional Responses to Diversity: Challenges and Opportunities”

Trinity Christian College, Kalayapuram, Kerala, 29 June 2026

Trinity Christian College was privileged to host an enriching Academic Seminar on the theme “Missional Responses to Diversity: Challenges and Opportunities” on 29 June 2026 at the TCC Chapel Hall.

The seminar was led by Dr. P. T. Subrahmanyan, who presented a thought-provoking paper exploring how the Christian mission can faithfully engage India’s remarkable diversity while remaining rooted in the biblical vision of God’s inclusive kingdom.

Dr. Subrahmanyan emphasized that India’s diversity—expressed through its cultures, languages, ethnicities, religions, and social realities—is not merely a challenge but also a significant opportunity for Christian witness. Drawing extensively from Scripture, particularly the ministries of Jesus Christ, Peter, and Paul, he demonstrated that God’s mission has always crossed cultural, social, and ethnic boundaries.

The presentation addressed several important contemporary issues, including:

  • Christian mission in India’s pluralistic society
  • Biblical foundations for inclusive mission
  • The role of the Indian Church in promoting reconciliation
  • Challenges of caste, gender inequality, and linguistic barriers within the Church
  • Contextual theology and culturally relevant ministry
  • Public theology and Christian engagement with society
  • Building communities that reflect the unity and diversity of the Kingdom of God

A central emphasis of the seminar was that Christian mission should extend beyond evangelism alone to include social justice, reconciliation, public engagement, contextual theology, and the promotion of the common good, while remaining firmly grounded in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The seminar witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, pastors, and ministry leaders. The audience listened attentively, engaged with the presentation, and participated in meaningful discussions that encouraged deeper reflection on the Church’s mission in contemporary India.

The session provided valuable academic insights while also challenging participants to think critically about how theological education and Christian ministry can respond faithfully to the realities of diversity in today’s world.

Trinity Christian College expresses its sincere gratitude to Dr. P. T. Subrahmanyan for sharing his scholarly research and practical missional insights. His presentation greatly enriched the academic community and encouraged participants to envision a Church that reflects God’s inclusive love and redemptive mission. We pray that the insights gained through this seminar will inspire continued theological reflection and faithful Christian witness in our diverse society.
